Understand the difference between work and account email addresses
Learn how Ausmed uses work and account email addresses, and how to ensure staff receive important notifications where they need them.
For staff connected to your organisation in Ausmed, there are two separate email addresses associated with their profile:
1. Work Email
- This is the email address your organisation provides to Ausmed for official communication with staff.
- It is used to send notifications like training reminders, performance updates and task alerts.
- Staff cannot manage preferences around notifications to this email address. This is controlled by your organisation for transparency.
2. Account Email
- This is the email address associated with a staff member's personal Ausmed account. It might be:
-
Their personal email (e.g. jane.doe@gmail.com), or
-
The same as their work email, if used at registration or if your organisation uses Single Sign-On (SSO) for authentication.
-
-
This email exists because every Ausmed user has their own personal login identity—even when they belong to an organisation. The key benefit of this approach is that each user maintains a single, continuous account over time. This means their learning history stays in one place, regardless of which organisation they're part of. As a result, organisations can benefit from training efficiency by recognising prior learning and avoiding duplication, while users retain a clear record of their development.
📌 Why does Ausmed support both?
Ausmed maintains both emails to support a range of use cases:
-
A staff member might have created an account with a personal email before joining your organisation.
-
Your organisation may require that official communications be sent to work-issued email accounts to ensure transparency.
Each Ausmed user has a personal login identity, even when connected to an organisation. This ensures their learning history stays with them over time, no matter where they work. It enables organisations to recognise prior learning and avoid duplicated training, while users benefit from a single, continuous record of their development.
This dual-email system allows staff to retain ownership of their personal account while giving your organisation a reliable channel for communication and oversight.
⚙️ Can staff choose where work-related notifications are sent?
- No. Notification preferences are not managed by individuals.
- All communication from your organisation—such as reminders and tasks—is sent to the work email, which your organisation controls. This ensures consistency across your workforce and prevents important messages from going unseen.
- If reminders are being sent to an outdated or incorrect address, it’s important to update the staff member’s work email in the admin settings. 📖 Change a user's work email address

-
