Take a look at this Getting Started guide for everything you need to know!

3. How do I access Ausmed's library of competency assessment templates?

Steps

  1. Click the Competency tab in the top navigation bar of the manager portal. This will open the Assessment Templates page where you can view available competencies.
  2. Use the search bar or filters to find assessments based on keyword, profession, regulatory standard, or setting.
  • If you do not have access and are an existing LMS or Library customer, you can request free access for your organisation directly from this page.
  • Once access is granted, any user in your organisation with manager portal access can download and edit the assessment templates.

4. How does Ausmed ensure its competency templates are accurate, high-quality and evidence-based?

Ausmed ensures the accuracy, high quality, and evidence-based nature of its competency templates through collaboration with three key experts:
  1. Clinical Governance Specialist: Ensures templates meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards, aligning with the latest clinical guidelines and minimising liability.
  2. Academic Integrity Specialist: Focuses on the educational accuracy of the templates, ensuring they are evidence-based, clear, and unbiased for thorough assessment.
  3. Healthcare Learning Specialist: Tailors templates to be practical and relevant, ensuring they meet real-world needs and are suitable for different healthcare roles and settings.

To simulate the collaborative approach that happens internally within healthcare organisations, we integrate these experts' diverse perspectives into the development process.

Templates go through a thorough review process, including internal checks for clarity and consistency, and external reviews for clinical relevance.

We also gather feedback from customers to ensure continuous improvement and keep the templates up-to-date with evolving standards.

5. How long will my organisation have free access to Ausmed Competency™ Beta?

Your organisation will have free access to Ausmed Competency™ Beta during the beta period, while we continue to build the full Competency Management System. Once the full system is launched, access will transition to a paid subscription model.

6. What’s Ausmed’s plan for creating new competency assessment templates? What if I can’t find what I need?

Our competency assessment template development roadmap is shaped by changes in the sector, new regulations, and feedback from our customers. Right now, we’re focusing on aged care — especially helping organisations meet the updated requirements of Aged Care Standard 2.9.6 — by developing practical templates that address key gaps relating to the five core matters:
  • A: The delivery of person-centred, rights-based care
  • B: Culturally safe, trauma aware and healing informed care
  • C: Caring for people living with dementia
  • D: Responding to medical emergencies
  • E: The requirements of the Code of Conduct, the Serious Incident Response Scheme, the Quality Standards and other requirements relevant to the worker’s role'

If you can’t find the template you’re looking for, try using different keywords or filters.

Still no luck? You can request a new competency through Manager Support. Just include details like the profession, setting, and any relevant standards. We regularly review these requests, and if approved, they may be added to the library.

Our roadmap will keep evolving, so check back here, watch for updates from us, and feel free to get in touch if you're unsure whether your needs are covered.

7. How do I know if an assessment template is suitable for me and my organisation?

Before using a competency assessment template, review its details to ensure it meets your needs. Consider:

  • Relevance – Does it align with your role, profession, or workplace setting?
  • Regulatory Standards – Does it meet compliance or accreditation requirements?
  • Assessment Criteria – Does it cover the necessary skills, knowledge and behaviours required?
  • Customisation Options – If needed, can it be modified to suit your organisation's needs?

8. I'm having trouble downloading the assessment template, what should I do?

If you're experiencing issues downloading an assessment template, try the following:

  • Check for pop-up blockers – Your browser may be blocking the new tab. Allow pop-ups for this site in your browser settings.
  • Try a different browser – Some browsers may handle file previews differently.
  • Refresh the page and try again.

If the issue persists, contact Manager Support for assistance.

9. Can I assign and track who has completed a competency assessment through Ausmed?

Currently, you can’t assign or track completion of competency assessments directly through Ausmed Competency™ Beta. However, you can use Ausmed’s Learning Management System (LMS) as a workaround:

Steps

  1. Start by uploading the competency assessment in one of the following ways:
    1. As a file
    2. Within a course
    3. As a practical activity.
  2. Next
    1. Assign the assessment manually to staff or,
    2. Include it in a training plan.
  3. Using the LMS, you’ll be able to monitor which staff have completed the file, course, or practical activity — giving you visibility while we build native assignment support into Ausmed Competency™ Beta.
  4. You can also share competency documents with staff by:
    • Attaching them to emails
    • Printing and distributing them manually.

📌 Want to assign competencies directly through Ausmed Competency™ Beta? We're actively exploring this. Please contact Manager Support to share your needs — we’d love your input.

10. How often are the templates reviewed and updated?

Templates are reviewed annually to align with industry standards and regulatory changes.

If major updates to professional guidelines or regulations occur, templates will be updated sooner to reflect these changes.

Version history is maintained to track modifications.

11. How will I know if a template has been updated?

When a template is updated, organisations using the previous version will be notified by email.

You can review the new version alongside the existing one to decide whether updates are needed. For more advice, refer to the View competency download history and versioning how-to article.

12. Can I check if my organisation is using the latest version?

Yes, you can. Just locate the competency and click View History to inspect past downloads. Check details such as:
