When publishing a competency, should I link to an existing practical activity or create a new one?

When publishing a competency, you need to link it to a practical activity (PA) in Ausmed Learn™. You can either link an existing practical activity from your library or create a new one.

When to link an existing practical activity

  • Link to an existing practical activity if you're already assigning it through Ausmed Learn™ — whether through a training plan or by assigning it manually — and you don't want to disrupt that schedule.

  • The linked practical activity runs exactly as it already does, but instead of managers having to manually mark off the requirement, it's marked off automatically once the competency is assessed as Competent. See What happens when a Competent outcome is recorded for more information.

When to create and link to a new practical activity

  • Create a new practical activity if you don't already have an equivalent practical activity in Ausmed Learn™. For example, it might be a new competency assessment you haven't required of staff before using Ausmed Competency™.
