What are app alerts?

App alerts, also known as push notifications, are real-time notifications sent directly to a user's mobile phone via the Ausmed app. These real-time alerts ensure staff are immediately notified about important tasks, such as new or upcoming learning requirements.

When should you send app alerts?

There are specific situations where app alerts are particularly useful for capturing attention and ensuring timely action. Here are the key moments when app alerts should be sent:

  1. When a requirement is first assigned: Sending an app alert when new mandatory training is assigned helps draw immediate attention to the task. This ensures that users are aware of their new requirement right away and can prioritise it accordingly.

  2. When a deadline is imminent: As the deadline for completing mandatory training approaches, especially within the next 24 hours, an app alert can serve as a crucial reminder. This is particularly effective for capturing attention and encouraging users to complete the requirement before it's too late.

  3. When training is overdue: If a mandatory requirement becomes overdue, an app alert can prompt urgent action. This helps remind users to complete the training as soon as possible to maintain compliance, reducing the risk of lapses in required learning.

How to send app alerts

App alerts are currently available for mandatory learning requirements issued via Ausmed's Learning Management System. They can be triggered when individually reminding users about an open or overdue mandatory learning requirement.

Getting started with app alerts is easy! Follow these steps to enable them for your organisation:

How do I know if someone received an app alert?

App alerts are currently a beta feature that we're still testing, and at this stage, we haven't developed a solution to track whether the alerts have been successfully sent or if users have their notifications turned on in order to receive them. For this reason, we send both an email and an app alert together as a failsafe. This approach helps ensure that users are informed, even if the app alert isn't received.

Troubleshooting issues

Here are some possible reasons why staff may not receive app alerts and how to manage them:

  • Ensure they are logged into the app: Even if staff are not regularly using the app, they need to be logged in to receive app alerts.
  • Push notifications enabled: Ensure your staff have installed the Ausmed app and enabled push notifications in the app settings. For instructions to share, click here
  • Enable device notifications: Ensure your staff have enabled notifications in their phone’s system settings. If they're using an Android phone, click here to learn how to manage their notification settings. For iOS devices, click here.
  • App not updated: If staff are using an older version of the app, notifications may not work properly. They should the app to the latest version via the App Store or Google Play. For instructions on updating Android, click here, and for iOS, click here.
