Understanding Compliance Settings

Learn how your organisation's Compliance Settings impact compliance

About Compliance Settings

Ausmed’s LMS includes settings that let your organisation control how extensions to compliance requirements affect compliance status. These organisation-wide compliance settings ensure your reports, records, and messages to users consistently reflect how your organisation manages compliance.

What are compliance requirements?

Compliance requirements (also called compliance records) are formal requests for users to complete specific, mandatory training. Each requirement outlines:

  • Who must complete the training
  • What they need to complete
  • When it must be completed by

Why extensions are sometimes needed

In some situations—such as staff returning from extended leave, onboarding delays, or scheduling conflicts—your organisation may need to grant an extension to a compliance requirement. Extensions give users additional time to complete required training.

However, it’s not the person granting the extension who determines the impact on compliance. Instead, Ausmed’s compliance settings define how the system interprets and applies the extension.

What do Compliance Settings control?

Your organisation's compliance settings determine the system behaviour when a compliance requirement is extended. These settings apply across the entire organisation and control:

  • Whether the user remains compliant during the extension period

  • What is shown in reporting and dashboards

  • Whether the due date or overdue end date is updated.

What happens when an extension is granted?

Depending on your organisation’s compliance settings, the system will apply one of two behaviours:

1. Compliance Due Date Extension

  • The due date is updated
  • The user remains compliant until the new due date
  • Reporting reflects the new deadline as the compliance target
  • This indicates that the user has been granted an official extension.

2. Overdue End Date Extension

  • The original due date stays the same for compliance purposes
  • The overdue end date is extended, allowing the user to access the training for longer
  • The user becomes non-compliant if the requirement isn’t completed by the original due date
  • Reporting continues to reflect the original deadline, preserving accountability.
