How will I know if Ausmed updates a competency template?
When Ausmed updates a competency template, it's your decision whether to apply those changes to your own copy. Your copy won't update automatically.
How you'll be notified
Ausmed notifies organisations of template updates via email through our Content Updates channel. If you're an Organisation Manager (OM), you'll automatically receive these emails — there's currently no way to subscribe independently of this. When you receive one, it will tell you which template has been updated so you can review the changes and decide what to do next.
Check what's changed
📺 Watch "Check what changes Ausmed has made to a competency template" to see this in action, or follow the steps below.
✅ Steps
- Go to the Competency Templates library
- Find and select the template that has been updated
- Select View to open the template details page
- Navigate to Version history
- Find the most recent update — this will show the date and a description of what changed
💡 Tip: Open your own copy of the competency in another tab so you can compare it side by side with the changes in the version history.
Decide whether to apply the changes
Once you've reviewed what changed, it's up to you whether to update your copy. Things to consider:
- How significantly have you customised your copy from the original template?
- Does the change affect criteria you're actively using?
- Does the change relate to a regulatory or standards update that your organisation needs to reflect?
If you decide to apply the changes, update your copy manually by editing the relevant criteria, sections, or details to reflect what's described in the version history. See Update a competency assessment for more information.
