How competency assignment works
When you publish a competency in Ausmed CompetencyTM, you link it to a Practical Activity (PA) in Ausmed LearnTM — either an existing activity or a new one you create during publishing.
From there, assigning the competency is just a matter of assigning its linked PA through your normal Ausmed Learn™ workflows. You can do this in two ways:
- Add the PA to a training plan — the most common method. See Add items to training plans for the steps.
- Manually assign the PA to staff — use this if you don't use training plans, or need a one-off assignment. See Manually assign mandatory training for the steps.
Assignment behaviour for existing PAs
If the linked PA was already assigned — manually or through a training plan — before you published and linked the competency, staff don't need to be re-assigned. Their assignment schedule (due dates, frequency, completion rules) stays exactly the same.
This means rolling out digital competency assessment doesn't disrupt your existing training structures. The competency simply rides along with its PA, and the requirement can be marked off by the assessment taking place through the app if the candidate is assessed Competent.
